Sidney Crosby Seeks Natural Healing With A Chiropractic Neurologist

There are a lot of detractors out there for chiropractic, but what do you say when the modern superman of hockey, Sidney Crosby, seeks natural healing with a chiropractic neurologist. HMMM. If he can afford to have ANY treatment in the world and uses a chiropractic neurologist instead of more invasive traditional medicine, that’s just crying out for a closer look.

I hear you right now asking, “what’s a chiropractic neurologist?” because that’s what I wondered too. Check out this little description from wikipedia

What is Chiropractic Neurology?Chiropractic Neurology is a subspecialty of chiropractic practice. There are currently 10 specialties recognized by the American Chiropractic Association (ACA). These approved specialties include Diagnostic Imaging, Rehabilitation, Acupuncture, Clinical Nutrition, Diagnosis and Management of Internal Disorders, Orthopedics, Clinical Neurology, Forensic Sciences, Pediatrics and Chiropractic Sports Physician.[1] One of the leading training institutions for the American Chiropractic Neurology Board defines the chiropractic neurologist as someone who provides the same manner of consultation as a medical neurologist, with the major difference being that the therapies and applications are performed without the use of drugs or surgery.

So just as in other types of medicine there are specialists in chiropractic as well (which adds up to more years in school and more pesos as well.) So you see Dr Carrick isn’t just a local bone cruncher, but to tell you the truth I still wonder after that wikipedia article what he really does (it wasn’t all that clear). It seems to work whatever it is because Crosby is going back for more of it.

Carrick worked closely with Crosby last summer after Crosby’s progress slowed. Carrick said in September that Crosby would have a “very good outcome” following his rehab.

Crosby vowed to return this season, and he was spectacular in his season debut on Nov. 21, scoring two goals against the New York Islanders and had 12 points in eight games.

Yet all the good feeling faded after getting jostled around in a loss to Boston on Dec. 5.

There is no timetable for Crosby’s return and though he called the chance to join his teammates on the ice a “positive step” it was also largely symbolic.

The 2009 NHL MVP is still uncertain when he’ll be able to practice, let alone suit up for a game.

“Sidney has made a lot of progress but he is still having some symptoms, so this is the next step in his recovery,” Penguins general manager Ray Shero said. “Obviously he won’t be back in the lineup until he is symptom-free.”

Yet the latest news is that He’s out on the ice once again – even after the Dec 5th pull back.

I guess the big question is – did he just push himself and come back too early back in November? I also wonder –  if Sidney Crosby seeks natural healing with A chiropractic neurologist and does every exercise known to man and can’t heal well enough to maintain performance, will that have negative repercussions for chiropractic?
